Curley Hair + A Flirty Two Year Old = Free Doughnuts
I promised the kids a few days ago that I would take them to Krispy Kreme's for breakfast this week. We only have Tuesdays and Thursdays free because Maddie and Zach have summer camp Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We had a lot of things to do before we could go, and by the time we got there they were done giving out their free hot doughnuts. The kids were a little disappointed that there were no doughnuts on the assembly line, but they quickly got over it when they got to pick their doughnuts at the counter. I am not a huge doughnut fan, but even I can't resist a plain glazed one every now and then. Each child ate their fill, when we realized they were cooking some doughnuts again. We cleaned up and watched as they began to make fresh doughnut holes. Jackson started flirting with one of the older workers in charge of putting the doughnut holes in the cup. After a few minutes, Jack had three our four women making silly faces at him through the window. It got Jack laughing and flirting back again. Before I knew it, one of the girls came over with a cup of doughnut holes and said that my kids had the most gorgeous curly hair, and that my two year old was the cutest kid she'd ever seen. Obviously she's never seen Jackson on one of his bad days . . .anyhoo, she gave my kids the cup of doughnut holes. I should really start taking advantage of this curly hair my kids have. Jack gets complete strangers putting their finger through his hair. It was a fun morning. If you ever need to rent Jackson for free doughnuts I'll make it cheap!!

Golf, Baseball, and the Symphony
Finally, Zach did the "Symphony Challenge" in primary. Basically the "Symphony Challenge" is this, a child picks a song from the primary song book and practices it until they think they can perform it memorized in front of the entire primary. Zach has had a hard time making up his mind, but finally decided on "I am a Child of God" . . .yes, yes, he wanted to challenge himself with such a hard song. Anyway, we thought he was going to sing it next week, but when they asked if anyone was ready he raised his hand. The Primary President came looking for us so we could watch. Dan and I were a bit surprised that he was doing it this week, but he did an amazing job! He belted it out loud and clear. He was so proud of himself. The prize at the end is a king size Symphony Bar. Maddie is doing a more difficult song next Sunday, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me." Zach has been kind enough to share his chocolate with the family, but has stood just a little bit taller all day. What a brave kid he is. Wednesday, June 4, 2008
The End of Another School Year

Wow!! What a Week!
That evening we had everyone over for dinner. Maddie was so excited to get baptised she could hardly eat. The baptism was at 6:30pm so she felt like the day went by so slow. Our ward was in charge of the evening, but there were a lot of kids getting baptised from the stake. Maddie's cousins from both sides of the family sang "I Am a Child of God," Maddie's favorite primary song, for the musical number. My little joker Zachary threw his arms up in the air and yelled the last three words of the song and thought he was extremely funny. Thankfully Maddie was the second child to go into the font and get baptised. The whole evening was great. Maddie was so happy, and relieved that she didn't get any water up her nose.
Sunday she was recognized by the bishop in front of everyone in sacrament. Maddie was so excited to get so much attention. Zachary claims he wants to get baptised now too so he can get presents like Maddie. The church must be true if you get presents, right?? Thanks to everyone for your love and support this week. It was fun to see family and friends, but with gas prices, we can understand why other's couldn't make it. You were missed!
